Gwen Stefani for OPI collection swatches and review

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope you all had a fab weekend =) Today I have swatches and review of the Gwen Stefani for OPI collection which was released recently. Gwen has been a fashion and beauty icon for years so it was about time she collaborated on a nail line! WARNING: This post is PIC HEAVY.

What they say:

"OPI joins celebrity partner Gwen Stefani in announcing seven new limited edition nail lacquers for 2014, featuring standout color in breakthrough finishes. Highlights from the collection include a bold red lacquer that pays homage to Gwen’s signature lipstick, a new semi-matte satin finish in shades of gold and black, and a mirrored chrome paired with a special base coat.

Inspired by the 2013 Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala that featured the theme “PUNK: CHAOS TO COUTURE,” OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director Suzi Weiss-Fischmann decided to create a collection of lacquer celebrating the role of music as a major influence in fashion."

My swatches and review after the jump!

I Sing in Color is a vampy blackberry creme. On the nail it's almost black and dries to a high gloss finish. I found the formula a little on the thin side and I found it a tricky get a clean finish. 2 coats is pictured.

Push and Shove is a very cool looking mirrored silver chrome and comes in a set that includes a mini sized bottle of Lay Down that Base. I'm not a fan of mini bottles but out of all the mini bottles out there I find OPI ones the easiest to use and they are just so cute!

They recommend applying a thin layer of Lay Down that Base first and then to let dry completely before applying 2 coats of Push and Shove. The base is thin like a normal base coat which I found interesting because I was expecting a thicker formula similar to Aqua Base.

I thought it would be hell to apply like most chromes but I found it surprisingly easy to apply! It dried to a super cool chrome effect. It's extremely unforgiving though - it will show every ridge and dent on your natural nail - so definitely give your nails a quick buff before applying. 2 thin coats is pictured. They also recommend it be worn without topcoat.

Over & Over A-Gwen is the signature shade of the collection and is of course red - inspired by Gwen's signature red lipstick.

The set includes the polish Over & Over A-Gwen, a sheet of Swarovski crystals and studs, a stick of nail glue and instructions on how to create some nail art looks.

Over & Over A-Gwen is a super bright cherry red creme. It applied like butter and dried to a high gloss finish. 2 coats is pictured.

In True Stefani Fashion is a sparse silver holographic glitter topcoat that contains square glitter pieces. The glitter is quite dense so it applies easily. 2 coats is pictured in each swatch.

Overall: The formula of the shades I was sent were mostly consistent and easy to apply with the exception of I Sing in Color. Most of the cremes in the collection are dupe-able really but Push & Shove and In True Stefani Style are definitely worth getting and of course the Over & Over A-Gwen box set if you're a Gwen fan!

Details: The Gwen Stefani by OPI collection is available now from selected Myer, David Jones and selected salons nationally. All shades retail for $19.95 and the Signature shade Gwen Over & Over A-Gwen retails for $24.95.
